Transfer Guidance
The next window to submit an application for the National IDT process will open at 4pm on Friday 4 August 2017 and close at 4pm on Friday 1 September 2017. The supporting documents will be made available on the national website from 7 July 2017.
The National IDT process
The National Inter Deanery Transfer (IDT) process has been established to support trainees who have had an unforeseen and significant change in their personal circumstances since the commencement of their current training programme which requires a move to a different region. The process is managed by the National IDT team (Health Education South London) on behalf of the Conference of Postgraduate Medical Deans (COPMeD), Health Education England (HEE) and all UK regions.
In order to provide a consistent, transparent and robust process for all trainees, the National IDT team will make all decisions on eligibility and allocations in accordance with the published guidelines and criteria. You can read these guidelines and criteria as well as find out much more about the process by visiting the National IDT webpages, which have been migrated to a new home on HEE’s specialty training website here. All of the required documentation, supporting documents and applicant guides are hosted on the specialty training website and all applications will now be made via the Postgraduate Medical and Dental (PGMDE) Support Portal.
All FAQ's are now hosted on the PGMDE website which can be accessed here
You can also contact the National IDT team directly with any queries you may have by emailing IDTinfo@hee.nhs.uk
As part of the application process, all trainees will be required to submit a ‘Deanery Document’. This form can be found on the National IDT website above and should be sent to your current region’s administrative team for completion. To find out exactly who this should be sent to, please read the ‘Directory for regional IDT contacts’, also found on the website above.
Transfers within the HEE NE area (Intra-Deanery transfers)
Once you have accepted a training programme within the HEE NE area, the expectations are that you will fulfil that commitment. Changes of programme within the School will only be considered if there are demonstrable changes in your personal circumstances and the transfer will not result in the inability to provide safe levels of service provision to the local health care system. You will not need to apply for via the above IDT process Instead, you should discuss your request with your Lead Training Programme Director.
