The MRCGP

 

 

Since August 2007 there has been a single training and assessment system in place for UK trained doctors wishing to obtain a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice. Satisfactory completion of the scheme is an essential requirement for entry to the General Medical Council’s GP Register and for membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners.

This process is a competence based integrated assessment programme that includes the three components collectively known as MRCGP which are:

Applied Knowledge Test (AKT) (assessment dates and how to book)

Clinical Skills Assessment (CSA) (information on sittings and how to book)

Workplace-Based Assessment (WPBA) (information on all the WPBA tools used to collect evidence for the ePortfolio)

Each of these is independent and will test different skills but together they will cover the curriculum for specialty training for General Practice.

Evidence for the workplace-based assessment will be collected in the ePortfolio of each GP trainee.
