The Northern Foundation School supports experience in General Practice within the second year of the Foundation Programme (F2), achieved the Department of Health target of 55% of rotations including placement in General Practice in F2 from August 2006 and intends to maintain this in the future. The School has achieved this through working in partnership with Trusts and GP Practices to establish and maintain a network of training practices throughout the region. For further information about how GP placements in the Foundation Programme are structured and implemented, please have a look at the sections below and/or contact: Dr Julian Hargreaves or email Julian Hargreaves
Continuing development as an F2 supervisor is expected with training at update sessions and the Northern Foundation School conference. Please email Gillian Quinn for details and bookings.

For GP practices interested in F2 training:
Training F2 doctors is a rewarding experience, an impetus to your own learning and development. Close supervision is required to support trainees, especially at the start of their rotation, but training is a net contribution to what the practice can offer patients and there is a grant available. If you are a GP Practice within the Foundation School area who is interested in taking part in F2 training then please see the below documents and fill in the document New FP training Practice to register your interest.:
