Health Education England and the Global Health Exchange

The North East office of HEE are supportive of the notion that, as we work and live in a global society, that there should be the ability to learn from each other.

The NHS Global Health Exchange, hosted by HEE, was launched in 2015: http://www.globalhealthexchange.co.uk/default.aspx. It aims to improve the quality and volume of the NHS workforce through global learning and exchanges and, as a consequence, build health education capacity in low and middle income countries.

Specifically, the GHE will:

  • Create opportunities for global education and training for NHS current and future workforce
  • Promote general overseas volunteering
  • Participate in the development and delivery of collaborative international projects to address current workforce shortages

This work is being led by Director for Education and Quality for the North (Professor Ged Byrne) and Director for the North (Laura Roberts) for HEE. We will share opportunities/output to our local networks as they arise.
